Just Keep Swimming

Goodmorrow my fellow friends and family. Well this week was basically a brand new week. We received changes Nothing really changed but that Im no longer in a Trio i just moved to the other Elders house so I stayed in Itaugua but now im in Itaugua C/D with Elder Pickering. Hes from wait ill let you guys guess….. UTAH yep so basically every american companion that I have had is from Utah jaja what a crazy occurrence jaja. No but I’ve loved it so far having my Utah companions. But this time its a little different because we are from the same group we came together! So we have the same time out on the field. Its been a lot of fun and at the same time stressful getting to know the rest of the new area. Its so big I sometimes just get tired just looking at the map. But we are working with some really awesome people right now and we are having a Baptism this next weekend so excitement!!!!!! This week Has been a lot of learning of me learning and keeping the progression going. To just keep swimming forward in my mission and learning more and more. I’ve recently come to the conclusion that I had a tendency of comparing my self a lot to other missionaries and that way to measure my success as a missionary and then I just came to the conclusion that it doesn’t matter the merits or recognition i receive from certain people or missionaries but what matters is that I keep being the best Elder Martinez I possibly can. To keep reaching the potential and developing the talents that the Lord has given me and me alone to develop and reach. I have to keep reminding myself of that because sometimes I’m just so hard headed I don’t let myself get it haha. I found these 2 quotes in my studies that also just really helped me

Your Heavenly Father loves you—each of you. That love never changes. It is not influenced by your appearance, by your possessions, or by the amount of money you have in your bank account. It is not changed by your talents and abilities. … God’s love is there for you whether or not you feel you deserve love. It is simply always there.” Thomas S. Monson

“My dear friends, you are a royal generation. You were preserved to come to the earth in this time for a special purpose. Not just a few of you, but all of you. There are things for each of you to do that no one else can do as well as you. If you do not prepare to do them, they will not be done. Your mission is unique and distinctive for you. Please don’t make another have to take your place. He or she can’t do it as well as you can. If you will let Him, I testify that our Father in Heaven will walk with you through the journey of life and inspire you to know your special purpose here.” H. Burke Peterson

Ive never felt something to be so true. Its like this letter I found in my desk about a Penguin. And I think if Elder Worsham (my dad on the mission) is reading this he will recognize it and id like to thank him for forgetting it haha so I could read it because it helped a lot. And I hope he is having a great time now at home with his family. But its about the fact that the Penguin no matter how ugly its sound maybe compared to its other bird cousins or how boring his colors may seem compared to other or its inability to fly if it were to spend all day worrying about what he cant do he wouldn’t realize what he could do which do the amazing swimming and sliding it does. To see how a Penguin flies in the ocean instead of the sky is still just as stunning and beautiful. I feel really great with this in Mind and Hope that if anyone else has felt this way that they dont anymore and just like I have decided to be the Best Elder Martinez I can be that you be the best you You can be. Be the Penguin, or be that Peacock, or Eagle show what your talents and abilites are and let our Heavenly Father let you develop them.

Im very excited for this next year on the mission and to just keep bettering myself more and more and to keep learning. I know that our Heavenly father lives and that he loves us and our Individual Worth. I’m just mad it took me a year on the mission to finally let that sink in.
Miss y’all and love y’all and I look forward to keep receiving your emails they honestly mean a lot to me. And until next week. =)
